DCBC Leadership

Pastoral Leadership Team

The DCBC leadership team is led by Bruce Elder. The leadership team is supported by the church elders, who are elected from the congregation. There are also lots of other leadership and service opportunities within our church.

Hi, I'm Bruce and I co-lead the Pastoral Leadership Team here at DCBC. I'm  passionate about seeing our church be a community of people who are becoming increasingly fruitful in being the hands, feet and voice of Jesus to each other, and in our city and world. I'm committed to growing a leadership team (PLT) that looks and depends on Jesus to see this happen. I am married to Jill, and we have four married children with an ever-increasing number of wonderful grandchildren. Outside of work I love tramping in our magnificent scenery, going to the gym, running along the beach and enjoying a good coffee at a local café with Jill and friends.

I’ve been at DCBC since coming to Dunedin as a student many years ago and have been on the leadership team since 2003. I’m in charge of the High School youth ministry (DCBC Youth Group) which I lead on Wednesday nights with my wife and a team of leaders. I also look after the church finances and contribute to the administrative area and the wider leadership of the church. I’m an avid climber and have spent many years climbing and developing rock climbing routes around Dunedin and other parts of the country. I’m also pretty keen on my sport, especially basketball (which I play competitively and coach at the local school and club level) and anything outdoors-y. I’m married to Fi (a Sports Dietician, working with the Highlanders and other athletes and teams) and we have three children Caleb, Abby and Levi.

Hi, I lead the Young Adults group. My role is to encourage and challenge young people to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and grow as his disciples. This means I get to spend a lot of time talking to young adults about Christ and their faith online and in-person and then seeking God's wisdom about the same topics. I also lead the Welcome area and the team that run the Inter-generational services. I am married to Susan, who is a GP and a partner at her practice in South Dunedin and we have 3 kids: Nathan, Scarlet and Hazel. When I am not spending time with my family, I love to roam around the hills of Dunedin with Loony, our big black family dog.

Hi, I'm Tina and I share the Church Administration role with Mike Brown. I am married to Jake who is a Social Worker at Dunedin Hospital and we have 2 children, Isaac and Emma. I am from Singapore but have lived in New Zealand since 1997 when I came here to pursue my studies at Otago. Jake and I worshipped at DCBC when we were students in the late 90s, got married in 1999, left Dunedin in 2001 to live in Singapore and then Auckland before moving back to settle in Dunedin in 2016. I relax and recharge by pottering in the kitchen – baking, making jam and chutney, fermenting Kombucha and cooking up a storm.

Hi, my name is Mike Brown and I share the Church Administration role with Tina. I am married to Rosie (a Research Fellow in the Anatomy Department) and we have two children Ollie  and Abi. I grew up in Auckland but have since seen the light and moved south. Before joining the team I worked as a Secondary Teacher (Chemistry and Outdoor Education). I love to spend time outdoors, climbing hills, tramping and generally enjoying our beautiful country.

Hi, I'm Kate and I lead our awesome team of welcomer's at DCBC.  I am passionate about seeing people connect with each other and with our amazing God.  I am married to Tim and we have 4 sons (Mikey, Jona, James and Sammy).
We are all very keen on family board games, particularly Settlers of Catan and Mahjong at the moment.  We also LOVE backyard cricket, camping & exploring and anything to do with the beach!  To get away from all my men! I love to walk and talk with friends, read books in the sun and find any excuse to have brunch with the girls!
