Meet Mike Simpson
Mike Simpson is in charge of the High School youth ministry (DCBC Youth Group) which he leads on Wednesday nights with his wife Fi and a team of leaders. He also shares charge of the administrative area (with Janna Kyle). This includes managing the church finances and resourcing the services on Sundays - working with the teams who setup the equipment for the service, run the sound system, record the sermons, run the computer projection system and man the car park. He's also the chair of the building committee who are working away to get our new building finished.

Although developing efficient systems is something Mike really enjoys he's even more passionate about using video to communicate. He'll often be working on short movies to share something of the vision of DCBC or to inspire people about God.

So what did you do before DCBC?
"I originally did a PhysEd degree and Masters at Otago Uni but gave away the exercise science research and worked for TSCF (Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship) for 4 years as the Dunedin staff worker. Then went back to study Theology for a degree again at Otago."

Family life?
Mike is married to Fi (another PhysEd’r who is a Sports Dietician) and they have three young children Caleb, Abby and Levi.

What would you be doing if you weren’t working?
"Definitely rock climbing… (when there’s a baby sitter)." Mike is an avid climber and has spent many years climbing and developing rock climbing routes around Dunedin and other parts of the country. He’s also pretty keen on his sport – especially basketball (which he plays competitively and coaches at the local club level) and anything out-doors-y.
